Navaratri–which means nine nights– is one of the biggest and most important festivals for Hindus.  It begins on October 16 and lasts through October 24, with the tenth day, “Dusshera” also a special day.  Hindus observe ten days of ceremonies, rituals, fasts and feasts, as well as songs and dances in honor of their supreme mother goddess whom they call Durga.
Pray for the people of Gujarat as they prepare for this festival. Pray for unsettled hearts as they contemplate their plans. Pray for a realization of the futility of the celebration. Pray for an opening for the Spirit of God to speak to the people. Pray that God “open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’ Act 26:18
