Proverbs 2:6 For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
Makar Sankranti is the celebration of the sun moving from an inauspicious time to an auspicious time, and is celebrated around the 15th of January. In Gujarat, this celebration coincides with Uttarayan, an international kite festival. All of Gujarat shuts down to go ‘play’ and kites fly in a colorful array all over the city. There is joy throughout the country as everyone looks forward to an auspicious season. Pray for the people of this state, and this country as they look forward to auspicious times. Pray that they would see the futility in superstitions, in any teaching that comes from the stars. Pray that they will seek wisdom and find joy in the true God.
These are auspicious days, to be sure. Not because of what is apparent in this physical world, but because of the one behind what we touch, taste, see, smell, and hear….the one responsible for all that is obvious. We think of and remember all who are engaged in the search for meaning in life that leads them to look behind the visible where they can discover the means for a relationship with the one who is its maker, the one who said I’ll be where you can find me if you but search for me with all your heart.
