Krishna Janmashtami

Luke 2:30-32 “for my eyes have seen your salvation, that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples, a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory to your people Israel.”

Dwarka, a city on the western coast of Gujarat, is considered to be one of the seven most holy cities in India, and is celebrated as the dwelling place of Krishna. Krishna is one of the avatars of the god Vishnu, and thus this city is most revered by the followers of Vishnu. Aug 22 is the day in 2011 set aside to honor Krishna’s birth. Many people will make pilgrimage to Dwarka. Those who can’t will be celebrating his birth where they live.
Please pray today for the people of Dwarka, specifically, and for those making pilgrimage, and for all in Gujarat who are celebrating the birth of Krishna. Pray that as they are surrounded by pomp and celebration, the Spirit of the Lord will reveal the true God of salvation to them, the true God who came to earth as a baby.
