Nowruz

Nowruz (Navraj, Nowroj) is often known as the Persian New Year. So what does this have to do with Gujarat? Nowruz was originally a Zorastrian festival, the holiest of them all, and believed by many to have been invented by Zoroaster. The followers of Zoroastrianism in India are known as Parsis, and their number in Gujarat is approximately 20,000.
Zoroastrianism is one of the oldest religions in the world. Their basic belief is that there is one god, who is good, and one malevolent being. All of existence is a struggle between the two. The responsibility of the follower of Zoroastrianism is to actively participate in life through good thoughts, good words and good deeds. According to their teachings, this path is the only true path, all others are false. The main thing that all Parsis have in common is that they are lost, not knowing the true God.
Pray today for those who follow Zorastrianism in Gujarat and around the world. Pray that as the celebrate the new year, they will be touched by God’s spirit to see that while it is true that there is only one path, it is not the path taught by Zoroaster but is indeed Jesus Christ.
Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6
