Maha Shivratri

Maha Shivratri is a yearly festival honoring Lord Shiva, this year observed on 2nd or 3rd of March. The festival is principally celebrated by offerings of Bael leaves to the Lord Shiva along with several other offerings; all day fasting and an all night long vigil. Per scriptural and discipleship traditions, the penances of yoga and meditation are performed in order to gain boons in order to reach the goal of moksha (salvation) more swiftly and avoid rebirth.
Please pray for people who are spending the day in homage to Shiva. Pray that they will realize that the penances they perform will avail nothing. Pray that they will understand the powerlessness of Shiva, and that salvation comes only through Jesus Christ.
