Vasant Panchami, this year held on February 8th, is celebrated as the birthday of the goddess Saraswati. Saraswati is the known as the goddess of knowledge and the arts. Many Gujaratis will be celebrating today, in temples, schools, and in their homes. Others will be taking advantage of this ‘auspicious’ day for marriage, house dedication, and as the starting point for their young children’s education. Pray today that as the celebrants worship Saraswati and seek knowledge their hearts will be open to God and that they will realize that: “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding.” Psalm 111:10
