And this is eternal life

John 17:3  And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.

Gujarat is a state filled with many gods–the god of Islam, the god of the Parsis, the myriad gods of the Hindus, and the universal gods of selfishness and greed.  The one God who is little known here is God, the creator of everything, the only hope of the world.  Pray for the people of Gujarat.  Pray that they will long for the truth, will actively seek God, and will respond to the Spirit, will come to know Jesus.

No judgement

John 5:24  ”Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.” Pray for all who are spreading the word of God throughout Gujarat, whether by preaching, distributing scripture portions, telling Bible stories, or showing films.  Pray for all who will be exposed to the word of  God through these efforts.  Pray that they will be receptive the the truth in the word and will believe in God.

A dry and weary land

Psalm 63:1  O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.                                          Dry and weary is a good description of Gujarat in the summer.  Many people struggle to get water, to meet the needs of their families.  Pray for these people, for their very real physical needs.  Pray also that they will realize their spiritual thirst.  Pray that their souls will thirst for God, and that they will earnestly seek Him.

Confidence in His promise

1John 5:13  I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life.

Of all the religions in Gujarat, only one has this promise.  Only those who follow Jesus have the assurance of eternal life.  Other religions offer the possibility that ‘if you are good enough’ or ‘if you follow all the steps’ then ‘you may get there’.  Followers of Jesus, however, have been promised by God himself that they will have eternal life.  Pray for all in Gujarat who follow some other religion, with numerous steps to heaven, and a great reliance on capricious gods–pray that they will feel the futility in their worship and will seek the truth, and that they will turn to Jesus with confidence in His promise.

Turn to Me

Isaiah 45:22  ”Turn to me and be saved, all the ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other.

Pray for the people in Gujarat today who are worshiping anything, anyone other than God. Pray that their hearts will not be satisfied, that they will acknowledge their spiritual hunger and turn to God for salvation.  Pray that every Believer in Gujarat will today share the Good News of salvation to a lost person.

Separated from Christ

Ephesians 2:12  ”Remember that you were at that time separated from Christ, strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world.”

Do you remember what it was like to be separated from Christ by sin, to have no fellowship with God? Remember those in Gujarat who are still separated from Christ, who are still strangers to His promise.  Pray for those in this place who are without God.  Pray that Believers will share with them the hope that is in Christ, and  pray that their spirits will respond to the Spirit of God.

Resurrected!

1Peter 1:3  ”Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead”

As you pray today, thank God for the Resurrection of our Lord, for the living hope we have through Him.  Pray for those in Gujarat who do not know this hope.  Pray for Believers in Gujarat to be loving and bold in sharing the Good News, “Christ is risen!”
